Let’s rewind!
Today, technology and artificial intelligence play a central role in everyday life – but let’s take a step back and rewind! That’s exactly the theme of The English Challenge 2026.
Younger generations, raised in a digital environment, can hardly imagine life without television, mobile phones, the Internet, or even simple household gadgets like hair dryers. That is why this “step back” will truly be a challenge for them.
The goal of this year’s TEC is to encourage participants to reflect on how much we take technology for granted. We want them to show – creatively, critically, and in a fun yet educational way – what life used to be like, and to share their thoughts on which times were better.
Participants are invited to prepare by talking with their grandparents, parents, and relatives, discovering how life worked before modern technology took over. Let’s explore retro and vintage objects and trends, and step into the shoes of people from the past. Let’s find out how they spent their time without scrolling or streaming, how they communicated, which activities have disappeared due to technological progress, what music and films were like, what might have been harder than today, and what an average day looked like back then.
So, pick up your phones, call your grandparents, and get ready – because it’s time to rewind!
